48 Hours Later
So... We've been sitting in our MSR base camp tent for nearly 48 hours and the weather outside has been nothing short of terrible.

At one point, Ryan commented that it the rain/sleet/snow might be letting up. It wasn't. We spent the day alternating between lying in our sleeping bags and sitting in our Treo chairs. Listing to podcasts and playing games on our phones. Several times, I got up to check the weather and it was a complete whiteout.

It takes a certain amount of patience to sit in one place for such a long time, but we have no other choice. Sitting in a tent and waiting out bad weather is a long time alpinist tradition so at least we can take solace in the fact that we are part of a long standing tradition.

We played rock, paper scissors for a while but had a hard time keeping track of who was in the lead. There was a brief nap where I woke myself up with my own snoring and then a few conversations about life, families and the career paths that brought us both to this tent.

In the end, the rain slowed as the sun set and the clouds dissipated revealing a clear sky and hopefully a summit attempt tomorrow morning.
