A Day at Parkside

With the help Chris Zanowski (pictured on my left), I was able to have the unique opportunity to spend the day in Kenosha at the University of Wisconsin Parkside.
I always enjoy coming to Wiscosin. These are my people. While I currently live in Minnesota, I grew up in Wisconsin and this will always be my home. Of course, not everybody knows Wisconsin like me, so I often have to educate my audience. At lectures, I often say, "I am from the far away and exotic land called Wisconsin. Have you heard of it?" (FYI there's as much cheese as you could possibly want).
Seriously, I really enjoyed my time at Parkside talking with students and professors about my experience on the Arctic Ocean. More importantly, we got a chance to talk about Global Warming.
The UW Parkside's campus (through Chris's initiative) is launching a campus and community wide initiative toward a healthy sustainable environment. Their first step is to try to reverse global warming through education, awareness and activism. My lecture was the first event in a series of activities.
Students and community members will watch and discuss current films as well as implement tire pressure checks (proper tire inflation improves gas mileage). Please check out the UWP web site to learn more.
