Karma in Kathmandu
I received lesson in Karma today from Nima, one of the partners in Himalayan Trail Blazers, as we toured several Hindu and Buddhist temples around Kathmandu. If you're thinking my encounter with Karma was a speed bump sent from the universe to watch my step, you'd be stretching the facts a bit. Instead, our conversation (me listening to Nima's encyclopedic knowledge) was more just a primer to basic concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism.

I continue to be amazed at the history and culture here. This morning, I saw the world's longest line as women stood waiting to pay tribute and celebrate Krishna's birthday. At the Hindu Pashupatinath Temple, we watched as family members carefully prepared bodies for cremation.

Tshering called to say that the solar panels and battery packs from Goal0 arrived in Kathamdu. He said was very surprised how light the units were and was very much looking forward to using them at Base Camp. Relaying the news, Nima and I had a good laugh: for those of you who don't know, Goal0 named their battery packs the Sherpa. In the end, both Nima and Tshering viewed the branding as a compliment.

Finally, I wanted to introduce Elisabeth Harincar who is acting as base camp manager and overall expedition fixer. I'd write a list of all Elisabeth is doing to help, but it would be way too long to fit in this post. Thanks for the help Elisabeth. I couldn't do any of this without you.
